What we do

The Volunteer Lawyer Network serves clients in the counties of St. Joseph, Elkhart, LaPorte, Starke, Marshall, and Kosciusko by placing cases with volunteer attorneys. Additionally, we offer free legal advice through clinics located throughout our service area.

The VLN may be able to offer services in the following areas:

  • Adoptions

  • Guardianships

  • Dissolution (Divorce)

  • Housing (Landlord/Tenant, Evictions, etc.)

  • Consumer and Collections

  • Small Business Legal Needs

  • Estate Law

  • Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Health Care Directives

  • Contracts

  • Bankruptcy

  • Real Estate

  • Special Driving Privileges


We cannot accept cases with hearings within 30 days, cases with emergency needs, or cases in the following legal areas:

  • Criminal Cases

  • Expungements

  • Traffic/License Violations

  • Personal Injury

  • Medical Malpractice

  • Wrongful Death

  • Employment

  • Change of Venue

  • CHINS Cases

  • Juvenile Delinquency

  • Paternity

  • Cases against the judicial system, criminal justice system, or any government entity
